Using Questions To Ignite Learning

Written by Erika Petrelli | Mar 29, 2021 4:59:08 PM

The activities we do with our students are important… but the questions we ask them about the activity are equally important.  Creating intentional space for reflection ignites greater learning opportunities, allowing our students to make deeper connections and insights.  Participants of this session will learn how ignite curiosity and to create consistent routines of reflection.

When To Ask Questions

  • In the Beginning (How are you?)
  • In the Middle (What do you think about?)
  • At the End (What did you learn?)
  • Afterwards (What’s something you tried? What will you do now?)

Categories of Questions

1.Who?

2.What?

3.When?

4.Where?

5.How?

6.Why?

7.I wonder…?

8.Do you..?

9.If…?

10.Wouldn’t it be cool if…?/Would you rather…?

Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle

  • What happened with you/the group?
